Privacy Policy
Runner is a running app published by Omiwato AB, Sweden. This is what Runner does with your data, who sees what, and how you stay in control. It is written to be read.
Who we are
Omiwato AB is the data controller for Runner. Write to us at runner-support@omiwato.com.
What we store
- Your account. An account identifier, the player name you choose, the profile picture you choose, and the email address that Apple or Google gives us when you sign in. With Apple's Hide My Email we receive the relay address. Until you sign in, your account is anonymous: an identifier tied to your phone.
- Your runs. Runner measures each run on the phone, with GPS and the motion sensors. What we store is the summary: the date, how long it lasted, how far you went, your speed through the run as a curve of speeds, whether it was indoors, and the outcome of the game, for example whether you were bitten, cleared, or grazed. The positions themselves stay in the phone's own record of the run. This is fitness data.
- Your progress. Season, missions, items you have found and repaired, the story you have heard, which songs you have kept or turned off, your settings, and the names and lengths of the routes you save.
- Apple Health, if you allow it. Runner saves each completed run to Health as a workout with time and distance. That goes to your phone.
What other players see
Runner is a game played against other people, and part of what you do is visible to them by design.
- Your player name and profile picture. They are how other players know you.
- Your runs as their hunters. The monsters chasing a player are recordings of other players' runs. Your speed curve from a run, under your player name, can be the hunter in someone else's run, and theirs in yours. What travels is the curve of speeds.
- Your place on the leaderboards. Each season's boards show the top ten of each board and your own best, under player names. Boards are the record of a season and stay when the season ends.
Signing in
Runner uses Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google to create accounts and to recover your history on a new phone. From Apple we receive an email address. From Google we receive an email address together with the name and picture on your Google account. We use the email address to recover your account and to write to you.
Who handles the data
- Supabase stores the data on our behalf as our data processor, in a data centre in Stockholm, Sweden. Supabase is established in the United States and may access the data to operate and support the service under our agreement with them.
- Cloudflare serves game content such as music and 3D models. Like any web server, it sees your phone's IP address when it serves a file.
- Apple and Google handle sign-in, and Apple handles Health if you allow it.
Those are the parties involved.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and its data for as long as the account exists. An anonymous account that never chose a player name is deleted automatically 30 days after it was created.
You can delete your account from inside the app, under Profile and Settings. Deleting removes the account, your picture, your runs and your progress from our servers, including runs recorded as hunters. Your player name stays on the leaderboards of past seasons as the record of what happened, unlinked from you. If you deleted the app without deleting the account first, write to us with your player name and we will remove it.
Writing to you
We may use your email address to write to you about the app: what has changed, and what is coming. Every message has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not affect your account.
This website
runner.omiwato.com is served by Google's Firebase Hosting, which keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, time, page) for a short period to run the service.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, receive a copy in a portable format, and object to how we use it. Most of this you can do yourself in the app. For the rest, write to us. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY.
Legal basis
We process your account, your runs and what other players see of them to provide the game you asked for. We write to you about the app on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping players informed, and you can opt out at any time. Apple Health is used with your permission.
Age
Runner is for people aged 13 and over. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change matters to you, we tell you in the app before it takes effect.
